Three Peaks Challenge for the Foundation12/06/2011
On 8th July Patrick's friend Paul Drake will set off to complete the Three Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for the Patrick Evans Foundation.
The daunting task involves climbing the three highest peaks in Britain within twenty four hours.
The trip will begin in Scotland with Ben Nevis (1334m), followed by a six hour drive to Scafell Pike in the Lake Distirct (978m) and then over the border to Wales - another four hour drive - to tackle Mount Snowdon (1085m)
With some of the climbing taking place at night, and not to mention the possible added problem of the great British weather, clearly the expedition is not for the faint-hearted.
Nonetheless, Paul is clearly up for the challenge. and eager to raise as much as possible: "Although the lack of sleep, huge distances, and tough terrain are going to be hard work both physically and mentally, I'm really looking forward to the trip.
"The Foundation is particularly close to me, not only because Patrick was a great friend, but because like him I'm a very keen skiier myself, so promoting safety in sport is a real priority. Hopefully by taking on the three peaks I can do my bit to raise awareness, and encourage others to take part whilst staying safe."
