Peloton for Patrick 2011 - Coast to Coast

Another intrepid cycle team completes Coast to Coast challenge for the Foundation.

Following the success of last year’s Peloton for Patrick ride from the UK to Nice, a group of energetic cyclists has completed a gruelling coast to coast bike ride across the north of England.

Travelling from the Irish Sea at Morecambe to the North Sea at Bridlington, the 6-man team passed through the historic cities of York and Lancaster, as well as lesser-known gems such as Settle, Pateley Bridge and Ripon – a total of 180 miles over three days.

The group was led by local Surrey businessman Chris Sills, director at SOS systems in Crawley where Patrick’s father Alun is MD.

Still full of enthusiasm following the ride Chris had this to say: “180 miles is a pretty significant distance and it’s certainly one thing planning a trip like this in comparison to actually finishing it. However, I think it’s obvious that we all had a great time - the team has been fantastic and it’s been a genuine pleasure throughout to be able to ride with them, and raise awareness for this great cause.”

Congratulations to the six riders -  Chris Sills, Graeme Savage, Andy Hill, Tom Barrett, Mike Dennis and Francis Maguire, and also a huge thank you to Hector Fraser and Rory Maguire who acted as support team for the duration.
